Vaginal dryness

Vaginal dryness is a medical condition that occurs with age or as a result of specific medical treatments, especially if they are hormonal. All women can be affected, especially after menopause. Vaginal dryness causes discomfort or irritation in the genital area and can cause discomfort during sexual relations. It also makes women more vulnerable to gynecological infections and can cause significant psychological effects.

Symptoms of vaginal dryness include sensations of pain, itching, irritation or burning, a decrease in libido, light bleeding after intercourse or repeated urinary tract infections. The irritation in this area is related to the decrease of estrogen, which reduces the lubricating secretions of the vagina. This often occurs at the time of menopause, but it can also occur after taking certain medications. It is the thinning of the mucous membrane, as well as the loss of elasticity and hydration in the vagina that leads to irritation.

Fortunately, it is quite easy to reverse this condition in cases of age-related dryness. As simply heating the vaginal mucosa will restore the moisture function and remove the sensation of irritation. In fact, a treatment with a calibrated temperature leads to the regeneration of skin functions. The mucous membrane is a tissue that is particularly easy to rejuvenate. To promote healing of the vaginal mucosa after laser treatment, we use PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) on the affected area.

Some patients with significant vaginal atrophy prefer to have the treatments done externally. This is especially appreciated when there is vaginal stenosis. It is possible to improve vaginal lubrication with external treatments.
